Graf Brothers Flooring, Inc. is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Timber Cutter to join our logging / forestry team. The Timber Cutter is responsible for felling trees using hand tools or mechanical equipment, ensuring proper cutting techniques to maintain safety and timber quality. This role supports timber harvesting operations and the wood products supply chain.

This full-time, hourly position requires travel across forests in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with possible changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate chainsaws and mechanized equipment to fell trees safely and efficiently.
• Assess tree conditions, surroundings, and hazards before cutting.
• Plan cutting directions to minimize environmental damage.
• Limb and buck felled trees into logs of specified lengths.
• Perform minor repairs on equipment.
• Coordinate with crew members to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Follow environmental and company guidelines for sustainable forestry.
• Mark trees for cutting in selective harvesting (if needed).
• Keep records of harvested timber.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proven experience as a timber cutter.
• Master Logger Certification in KY, OH, & WV; willingness to adhere to state regulations.
• Knowledge of tree felling techniques and safety procedures.
• Physical stamina for long outdoor hours in varying conditions.
• Ability to operate chainsaws, wedges, axes, and other tools.
• Understanding of forestry safety regulations and PPE requirements.
• Willingness to travel across multiple job sites; valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Lift 75 lbs frequently and work on rugged terrain.
• Work comfortably in all weather conditions.
• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.

Work Environment

• Outdoor work in forested or rural areas.
• Exposure to noise, debris, insects, and hazards.
