Job summary

The KYO Group at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Military Base in Houston is seeking a Network Engineer to escalate Tier 1 issues, resolve complex network and provisioning problems, and support end-user terminals for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities include root cause analysis, real-time monitoring of WAN/LAN, routing (OSPF/BGP), VLANs, ACLs, IPsec/VPN, and firewall policy maintenance. You will mentor Tier 1 staff and participate in on-site deployments with periodic travel.

Qualifications

High School Diploma required.
Required: Net+ and Sec+ certifications.
Preferred: CCNA and A+ certifications.

Responsibilities

Serve as escalation point for Tier 1 technicians for complex network issues.
Perform root cause analysis on recurring incidents and implement permanent fixes.
Monitor real-time satellite transponder configurations and network performance.
Troubleshoot Layer 2/3 issues including routing (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, ACLs, and IPsec/VPN.
Review and maintain firewall policies; investigate suspicious traffic.
Lead staging, migrations and upgrades with vendors and stakeholders.
Open, track, and close tickets with accurate records and escalation paths.
Provide on-site support for installations and startups (less than 5% travel).
Develop SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge-base articles; mentor Tier 1 staff.
