Job summary

Boley Centers, Inc. is seeking a full-time Peer Specialist to support individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges in Pinellas County.

You will work in the Safe Harbor campus within the TIEH program, mentoring consumers to achieve personalized goals and coordinating with the treatment team on recovery plans. Responsibilities include assessing needs, teaching life skills, coordinating transportation, and documenting progress.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months of responsible work experience.
• Knowledge of Recovery Model, counseling techniques, verbal crisis intervention and mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Assist treatment team by assessing strengths and needs of individuals in the program.
• Implement treatment plans to restore functioning in work, family and community roles.
• Build relationships and communicate needs to the treatment team.
• Assist consumers in accessing community resources and services.
• Document consumer and program activities as required.
• Mentor consumers in role recovery activities such as symptom management and stress reduction.
• Teach consumers to use public transportation to support independence.
