Job summary

Boley Centers, Inc. in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking a full-time Supported Housing Peer Specialist to work with the Treatment Team, providing psycho-social rehabilitation and mentoring to consumers to achieve individualized goals.

Responsibilities include assisting in assessments, implementing treatment plans, fostering independence, and coordinating with community resources. Valid Florida driver's license and personal transportation preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED equivalency.
• Six months of responsible work experience, preferably involving interactions with the public.
• Knowledge of Recovery Model, counseling techniques, verbal crisis intervention and mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Assists the treatment team with assessing strengths and needs of individuals in the program by directly observing/teaching skills, housekeeping, shopping, transportation, budgeting, medication management, laundry, planning leisure activities.
• Implements treatment plans that seek to restore a person's functioning in key life roles such as work, family, and community.
• Builds working relationship and maintains regular contact with consumers. Communicates the consumers' needs to treatment team. Reports as appropriate, all unusual events, activities and incidents to supervisor or appropriate team member.
• Assists consumers in accessing resources in the community such as recreational activities, work, medical, dental, etc. Visits consumers at programs or their residence as scheduled or requested.
• Documents consumer and program activities as required.
• Mentors consumers in role recovery activities such as symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction and work readiness.
• Transports and teaches public transportation to consumers to support independence.

Special Requirements

• Valid Florida driver's license required. This position requires meeting the eligibility requirements of the Agency's vehicle insurance carrier when driving an Agency vehicle or a personal vehicle transporting consumers. Own transportation vehicle and insurance preferred.
• Must be a consumer of mental health services as defined by the Agency.
