Throughput Simulation Engineer

Job Summary:

Our client in Sterling Heights, MI is looking for a Throughput Simulation Engineer. This is a Contract position.

Estimate process capability and improve its efficiency by utilizing discrete event simulation techniques in conjunction with reliability and downtime models of tooling/equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Meet with project engineers and managers to understand customer requirements, obtain process description and data. Develop tooling reliability models to estimate tooling downtime and discrete event process models to simulate process flow and equipment downtime. Run simulations and use statistical sampling to estimate throughput.
  2. Employ DOE techniques or iterative simulations to identify significant factors and bottlenecks affecting process performance.
  3. Present findings to management and customers, and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and meet process targets.
  4. Communicate process analysis effectively to ensure recommendations are implemented in the engineering of the process.
  5. Use feedback for continuous refinement of the process model as part of simultaneous engineering.
  6. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.
  7. Follow safety & environmental regulations and identify related concerns in facilities and customer sites.
  8. Adhere to the Quality System and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  9. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree or 2-4 years related experience; or equivalent combination.
  2. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, schematics; write reports; and communicate effectively.
  3. Basic math skills including algebra and geometry.
  4. Ability to understand and carry out instructions, and handle problems involving multiple variables.
  5. Physical demands include standing, sitting, handling, talking, hearing, and occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds.
