Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is hiring a Sales Associate/Merchandise Handler for our San Jose thrift store. This role includes greeting customers, processing transactions, sorting donations, stocking items, and keeping the store clean to deliver a positive shopper and donor experience.

We seek reliable, friendly individuals who can operate a cash register, follow safety policies, and work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Experience using a cash register or POS system is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors, provide prompt assistance.
• Operate the POS system to process transactions accurately.
• Stock, merchandize, and price items for the sales floor.
• Sort donations and maintain a clean, organized store environment.
• Follow safety policies and report hazards to management.
• Support store goals and participate in monthly meetings.
