Job summary

The Salvation Army in Great Falls, MT seeks an Assistant Manager to partner with the Store Manager in achieving daily goals and maintaining a well-organized, customer-focused thrift store. You will supervise staff, train volunteers, manage schedules, and ensure cash handling accuracy while upholding the organization’s policies and mission.

Responsibilities include cross-training across departments, leading staff meetings, and stepping in for the Store Manager during absences.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of demonstrated experience in a retail environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cash controls and cashier procedures.
• Experience reading computer spreadsheets and working with email, Excel, Word, and other computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare work schedules.
• Train new employees and volunteers.
• Demonstrate courtesy and integrity in leadership and daily operations.
• Motivate and develop staff, identify the best candidates for jobs.
• Lead staff meetings and communicate store goals clearly.
• Ensure safety and policy compliance per employee handbook.
• Cross-train in all store departments and cover open shifts as needed.
