Job summary

Precision Castparts in Garden Grove, CA, is seeking a Thread Roll Operator to perform light set ups for thread rolling machines and to produce fastener components to spec. You will set up and monitor machines, adjust controls, and ensure parts meet tolerances using gauges and dial indicators.

The role requires basic machining experience, ability to read instructions, and competence with shop math. This is an in-person, full-time position with benefits including health, dental, vision, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing in English is required.
• Basic shop math with fractions/decimals is expected.
• Basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
• Basic knowledge of machine tools.
• Ability to interpret written shop travelers.
• Capable of setting up and running parts as required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, or tend thread rolling machines to roll external threads.
• Perform light set ups of secondary and fabricating thread rolling machines.
• Inspect sample pieces with gauges, micrometers, or dial indicators.
• Follow procedures to ensure quality parts and log in/out per SOP.
• Crank machines through cycles and adjust tool positions as needed.
• Identify parts and ensure prior operations are complete.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Thread Roll Operator individual responsible to perform light set ups of secondary and fabricating thread rolling machines to roll external threads for manufacture of all types of related fastener products.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
• Identify parts to the shop traveler ensuring that all prior operations have been completed.
• Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll steel forming bends, beads, knurls, rolls, or plate or to flatten, temper, or reduce gauge of material according to shop traveler specifications and operation procedures.
• Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
• Crank machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances.
• Inspect sample work pieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Follow standard operating procedures to check, test, login, logout, and thread roll good quality parts, coordinating with department’s supervisor or lead during the process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• The ability to read and write English.
• An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
• A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
• A basic knowledge of machine tools.
• The ability to interpret written instruction on shop travelers.
• Capable of setting up and running parts as required.

Required Experience

• 1-2 years of machining experience.
• Some knowledge of comparator and induction heater preferred but not required.
