Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking level two thread/form roll operators to work under minimal supervision, operating and performing basic setups of thread/form roll machines across multiple platforms. The role requires intermediate print reading, inspection skills and basic troubleshooting with one to two years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Clear reading and writing skills in English.
  • Intermediate shop math, including fractions and decimals.
  • Basic knowledge of inspection tools and machine tools.
  • Ability to interpret written shop travelers.
  • Capable of setting up and running parts as required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up thread/form roll machines and feeding systems.
  • Identify parts using the shop traveler and verify prior operations.
  • Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll steel forming bends, beads, knurls, rolls, or plate; or flatten, temper, or reduce gauge per specs.
  • Adjust machine controls and tool settings to maintain tolerances.
  • Crank machines through cycles and adjust tool positions and controls for timing, clearances and tolerances.
  • Inspect samples with gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators to verify conformance.
  • Follow SOPs to check, test, login, logout and thread roll good quality parts, coordinating with supervisor/lead.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Level two thread/form roll operators work under minimal supervision to operate and perform basic setups of thread/form roll machines such as feeding systems on Warren, Waterbury, EWM, Roy, Hartford, platforms. Basic familiarity with thread/form roll tooling. This role requires intermediate competencies in print reading and inspection processes, as well as basic trouble shooting. One to two years of experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Identify parts to the shop traveler ensuring that all prior operations have been completed.
  • Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll steel forming bends, beads, knurls, rolls, or plate or to flatten, temper, or reduce gauge of material according to shop traveler specifications and operation procedures.
  • Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
  • Crank machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances.
  • Inspect sample work pieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to check, test, login, logout, and thread roll good quality parts, coordinating with department’s supervisor or lead during the process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • The ability to read and write English.
  • An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
  • A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
  • A basic knowledge of machine tools.
  • The ability to interpret written instruction on shop travelers.
  • Capable of setting up and running parts as required.
Required Experience
  • One to two years of experience.
  • Some knowledge of comparator and induction heater preferred but not required.
Level Of Education
  • GED or high school diploma preferred but not required.
