Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in South Jersey is seeking a dedicated Third Cook to support patient meal services and the hospital cafeteria. The role requires attention to dietary needs and quality preparation in a busy kitchen.

You will prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menus, read orders or verbal instructions, follow recipes, and use kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, trim and serve dishes with care and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of short order cooking and/or cold food preparation experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menus.
• Read food orders or verbal instructions and prepare/cook food accordingly.
• Follow basic recipes and product directions for soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foods.
• Operate kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, peel, cut and trim ingredients and foods.

Short Description

The Third cook will Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron and prepares and cooks food according to instructions. Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments. Prepares food under direct supervision or instruction by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.

Experience Required

3-5 years short order cooking and/or cold food preparation experience.
