Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in Camden, NJ, is seeking a full-time cook to accurately prepare and present hot and cold items for patient service, retail, and catering. Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for all meal periods including patient service, retail, and catering.
  • Assist with the supervision of kitchen personnel.
  • Select recipes per menu cycle, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and lift foodstuff and supplies, and prepare meals for patients requiring special diets.
  • Serve as a lead cook, guiding and assisting in training less experienced cooks.
  • Operate kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry, or fish.
  • Taste product, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production requirements.
  • Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and follow all regulatory rules and procedures.
  • Produce small to large batch goods using classical and contemporary cooking, plating and garnishing techniques.
  • Follow complex recipes and directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, and serving meals including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts.
  • Review next day production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Short Description

Tastes product, read menus, estimates food requirements, check production, and keep records in order to accurately plan production requirements. Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and must follow all regulatory rules and procedures. Produces small to large batch goods using advanced and full range of classical and contemporary cooking, plating and garnishing techniques. Follows complex recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, caving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, etc. Review next day production needs. Performs other duties as assigned.
