Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT seeks a Thermo-Fluids Engineer I within the MSEN engineering team to perform thermo-fluids analysis for gas turbine components used in commercial and military aircraft applications. You will contribute to high-quality physics-based analysis while collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams and project engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering (STEM) obtained by start date.
Experience with fluid-flow and heat transfer processes (thermodynamics, laminar/turbulent flows).
Experience in analytical modeling of conductive, convective, and radiative heat transfer.
Experience with numerical modeling tools for heat transfer and fluid-flow analysis through project work or coursework.

Responsibilities

Conduct fluid-thermal analysis of gas turbine bearing compartments, gearboxes, oil/air service tubes and ducts.
Apply numerical modeling tools to perform heat transfer and fluid-flow analysis.
Collaborate with design and analytical teams to align technical requirements with project goals.
Prepare technical documentation and presentations to communicate results and recommendations.
Support development and validation of design solutions based on analysis results.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
