Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT, seeks a highly skilled turbomachinery/CFD engineer to join our engineering team. The role focuses on air systems, thermal analysis, and engine validation planning for next-generation propulsion hardware.

You will lead design and analysis efforts, collaborate across disciplines, and travel up to 10%. U.S. citizenship and security clearance are required due to program access.

Qualifications

• PhD or PhD candidate with masters and relevant icing/heat transfer or turbomachinery research.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design fan/compressor air systems using 1D compressible flow modeling and CFD.
• Generate CFD-based thermal boundary conditions and heat transfer models for rotor and casing.
• Specify engine validation test plans and review engine/test data.
• Optimize air system architecture for safety, design life, and turbine performance.
• Operate independently on complex challenges and develop module solutions.
• Prioritize and support multiple projects on time and budget.
• Lead and contribute in high-performance teams across disciplines.
• Travel up to 10%.

Education

PhD graduate or PhD Candidate with Masters with directly applicable research in icing, heat transfer and/or turbomachinery development.
