Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Thermal to join its global New Product Development teams. You will design thermal and mechanical systems for mission-critical data center infrastructure, including liquid cooling, HVAC integration, and airflow management.

From concept through release, you will select components, perform calculations, create BIM/3D models, and coordinate testing, verification, and production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• 3–5 years in product development, data center infrastructure, HVAC or thermal systems.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and airflow management.
• Experience producing drawings, 3D models, BOMs, schematics and release docs.
• Proficiency with BIM/CAD tools (Revit, Inventor, AutoCAD, Creo, SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Develop thermal designs for data center infrastructure products and platforms.
• Translate requirements into engineering specs, architectures, and design solutions.
• Design and integrate liquid cooling, HVAC, heat rejection, and airflow subsystems.
• Perform thermal, fluid, and energy calculations to guide decisions.
• Create BIM/3D models, drawings, BOMs, and release documentation for prototypes and production.
• Lead prototype learning, CFD coordination, testing, and design verification.
