Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to shape next-generation thermal management technologies for data centers. You will lead mission-critical projects from concept through prototype validation, mentoring teams and coordinating with NPDI to enable productization.

Ideal candidates bring deep thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics expertise, plus a proven track record of technical leadership and delivering high-quality, scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and thermal management
• Experience leading cross-functional teams on multi-disciplinary programs
• Ability to develop design guidelines and documentation for NPDI handover
• Strong written and verbal communication for executive audiences
• Travel up to 10% for customer and partner engagements

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the technical strategy for thermal advanced development projects from concept through prototype validation
• Serve as senior technical lead on cross-functional teams, directing activities and ensuring milestones
• Develop and document design guidelines for handover to NPDI teams
• Communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences including leadership
• Mentor engineers and technicians, fostering a high-performance team
• Establish relationships with external research partners to advance emerging technologies
• Perform thermal analysis, modeling, and testing to validate cooling concepts
• Influence roadmaps and provide guidance on industry trends and regulations
• Drive continuous improvement in development methods and processes
• Conduct engineering calculations such as stress, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
• Other duties as assigned
