Job summary

Fortuna BMC is seeking a seasoned engineer to own the thermal protection system design, analysis, material selection, integration, and refurbishment for a reusable vehicle. You will translate reentry loads into TPS requirements and drive between-flight turnaround with practical rigor.

This onsite role in Titusville, Florida collaborates with structures, manufacturing, quality, test, and flight operations to qualify the vehicle and ensure rapid return-to-service.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in reentry thermal environments or TPS materials.
• Hands-on experience with reusable or ablative TPS materials.

Responsibilities

• Own TPS design, analysis, material selection, integration, and refurbishment.
• Translate reentry loads into TPS requirements (tiles, seals, coatings, insulation).
• Plan and execute arc-jet and thermal-cycle test campaigns for materials/assemblies.
• Analyze test/flight data, assess damage, and propose improvements.
• Define inspection, repair, and return-to-service standards for technicians.
