Job summary

Rondo Energy is seeking a motivated engineering student to join the Core Technology team in Alameda. You will help analyze thermal and fluid performance of our high-temperature heat battery platform using 1D tools and first-principles calculations, shaping design, optimization, and deployment.

You will assist in sizing pumps, fans, heat exchangers, and ducts while developing steady-state and transient thermal models and reviewing equipment data.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering; thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer coursework required or preferred.
• Foundational understanding of energy systems, thermal cycles, pumps, blowers, and air-handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support thermal and fluid performance analyses using 1D tools and hand calculations across operating conditions.
• Assist sizing and evaluation of pumps, heat exchangers, and air-flow equipment.
• Develop and validate steady-state and transient thermal models for energy storage systems.
• Perform pressure drop, flow distribution, and energy balance calculations for ducts and piping.
• Contribute to calculation packages, spreadsheets, and simulation scripts for design verification.
• Support test planning, data reduction, and comparison with models.
• Participate in design reviews and memos documenting technical results.
