Job summary

Lunar Outpost invites ambitious Thermal Engineering Interns in Golden, CO to gain hands-on experience in aerospace thermal analysis and space environment heat transfer. You will work on real flight projects, learning Thermal Desktop and applying it under supervision of senior engineers.

This in-person internship runs summer 2027 with Monday–Friday 8:00–5:00, offering mentorship and exposure to end-to-end development of autonomous robotic systems, including hardware testing and real-world problem

Job description

As a Thermal Engineering Intern at Lunar Outpost, you will gain experience and training in Aerospace Thermal Analysis, familiarity with practical space/lunar environment heat transfer principles, aerospace thermal hardware, and thermal testing. In addition, interns will use the NASA standard thermal analysis tool, Thermal Desktop, to perform real-world thermal modeling and analysis tasks in support of Lunar Outpost's several flight projects focused on the expanding cis-lunar economy. All interns will work directly alongside full-time engineers on real, engaging, and impactful projects, providing tangible value to Lunar Outpost products. This internship offers a truly end-to-end experience that promotes collaboration at every stage of autonomous robotic development.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in STEM or a related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Can effectively demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, while also excelling in collaboration and teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment
• Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills under pressure and in stressful situations

Early-June (June 7, 2027) to late August (August 20, 2027). Start and end dates are flexible with the intern's school schedule. This is an in-person internship; Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Golden, Colorado.
