Job summary

Lunar Outpost is seeking an engineering intern to work directly with full-time engineers on real, impactful projects. This in-person internship in Golden, Colorado, provides end-to-end experience across the systems engineering lifecycle for rover subsystems, payloads, and ground systems.

You will assist with requirements development, planning for validation and verification, and interface definition between teams, while gaining exposure to ConOps and change control processes.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with requirements development, decomposition, and traceability to satisfy customer requirements.
• Support validation and verification planning and execution for customer needs.
• Learn systems engineering lifecycle supporting rover subsystems, payloads, and ground systems.
• Contribute to test plan development and V&V activities.
• Assist with ConOps development and interface coordination between teams.

Job description

All interns will work directly alongside full-time engineers on real, engaging, and impactful projects, providing tangible value to Lunar Outpost products. This internship offers a truly end-to-end experience that promotes collaboration at every stage of autonomous robotic development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with requirements development, decomposition, and traceability to ensure customer requirements are satisfied
• Assist with planning and execution of validation and verification for customer requirements
• Learn the systems engineering lifecycle through supporting technical teams in the development, documentation, building, testing, and verification of rover subsystems, payloads, and ground systems
• Support test plan development and creation in support of V&V activities
• Support other systems engineering tasks, such as ConOps development, and interface definition between teams
• Support system and lower-level requirements management, including change control, audits, and coordination with other teams

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Can effectively demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, while also excelling in collaboration and teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment
• Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills under pressure and in stressful situations
• Fueled by a passion for space exploration and the boundless possibilities beyond our world

Early-June (June 7, 2027) to late August (August 20, 2027). Start and end dates are flexible with the intern's school schedule. This is an in-person internship; Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Golden, Colorado.
