Responsibilities
- Provides and updates effective clinical assessments for patients, supporting DSM IV-TR diagnoses.
- Develops treatment plans collaboratively with patients.
- Delivers individual, group, and family therapy based on therapeutic models suited to patient needs.
- Provides HIV-related services, including assessment, counseling, education, and testing.
- Recognizes crisis signs and employs de-escalation techniques.
- Collaborates effectively with treatment teams and external sources.
- Evaluates patients for discharge planning.
- Adheres to professional ethical standards.
- Applies substance use-specific competencies effectively.

- Seeks supervision and feedback to improve clinical skills.
- Maintains timely and comprehensive documentation of assessments and treatment progress.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a mental health discipline.
- Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment principles, co-dependency, and community resources.
- Certified in HIV Education, Counseling, and Testing within six months of employment.
- Understanding of psychiatric disorders, cultural diversity, and medical aspects of substance use disorders.
Additional Knowledge
- Familiarity with 12-step programs and self-help groups.
- Knowledge of behavioral, psychological, and social effects of psychoactive drugs.
- Understanding of medication-assisted treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
