Job summary

Mundelein Elementary School District 75 is seeking compassionate Paraprofessionals to support students ages 5-17 with autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, emotional disabilities, speech and language impairments, multiple disabilities, and other complex learning needs in a Highland Park, IL setting.

You will assist teachers with IEPs, behavior plans, and instructional activities while supporting academic tasks, communication development, social skills, and daily living skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children or in educational settings preferred.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with school staff.
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
• Experience supporting students with special needs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct classroom support to students with autism, developmental disabilities, emotional disabilities, and other special needs in a therapeutic day school setting.
• Assist the teacher in implementing IEPs, behavior intervention plans, and instructional activities.
• Support students with academic tasks, communication development, social skills training, and daily living skills.
• Assist with behavior management strategies and crisis intervention techniques as directed by classroom staff.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help students meet educational and behavioral goals.
