Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Milieu Counselor to support therapeutic milieu and collaborate with nurses to promote learning and coping strategies for patients.

The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient-centered care under RN supervision, and requires an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred) with at least one year of psychology-related experience.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum one year prior experience in Psychology working with specialized populations such as emotionally disturbed children and families
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team to communicate and effectively deal with complex, highly charged situations and possess group facilitation and crisis management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists the nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu/environment to ensure the care and treatment of patients.
• Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, provides individualized patient care to ensure the safety and dignity of the patient.
• Participates in interdisciplinary staff meetings and reads and signs minutes.
