Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks a Milieu Counselor to support a multidisciplinary treatment team. Under RN supervision, you will participate in nursing interventions and help create a therapeutic milieu that promotes learning and adaptive coping for patients with psychiatric needs.

You will collaborate with licensed staff on milieu development, participate in unit activities, and assist with non-therapeutic tasks under RN/PA/MD direction, ensuring safety and dignity for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; bachelor's degree and CNA certification preferred.
• Minimum two years experience in psychology or related field with psychiatric populations.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff to maintain a therapeutic milieu for patient care.
• Co-facilitates unit-based therapeutic groups under RN direction.
• Provides individualized patient care with safety and dignity under supervision.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to address patient/family needs.
• Participates in interdisciplinary staff meetings and reviews meeting minutes.
