Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Milieu Counselor to join our multidisciplinary team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will help create a therapeutic milieu and support patient learning and coping strategies.

You will collaborate with licensed staff to develop milieu activities and ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The role emphasizes PFCC principles, strong customer service, and a positive work environment, with opportunities to contribute to diverse patient populations

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor degree preferred.
• Minimum one year of Psychology-related experience with specialized populations (emotionally disturbed children, adolescents, adults, families).
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and manage challenging situations with composure.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu and environment for patient care.
• Acts as a cofacilitator in unit-based therapeutic groups under the Nurse Manager.
• Under RN direction, provides individualized patient care ensuring safety and dignity.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to address patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit activities and interdisciplinary staff meetings.
