Job summary

Snohomish Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia is seeking an experienced cook to prepare and serve meals for residents, staff and events, following safety and therapeutic-diet standards.

Responsibilities include menu-based preparation, precise portioning, timely delivery, and maintaining a clean kitchen. Requires ServSafe certification, a high school diploma, and experience in large-volume food production in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques.
• Knowledge of basic nutrition and food.
• Skilled in quantity food production.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the job.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members and at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food for regular and therapeutic diets according to a planned menu, as well as for employees and special events.
• Prepares alternative items to meet residents’ individual needs and food preferences.
• Prepares and/or portions food using proper handling techniques.
• Ensures meals are delivered to designated areas on time.
• Maintains proper food temperatures during preparation and service.
• Uses standardized recipes to prepare menu items.
• Keeps kitchen area clean and uncluttered.
• Performs cleaning and infection-control duties as needed.
• Interacts professionally with residents, families and visitors.
