Job summary

Cantex Continuing Care Network is seeking a Cook/Assistant Chef to ensure patient meals are prepared, cooked, portioned, and served per approved menus in a timely manner in a long-term care setting.

The role supports daily food production, therapeutic diet compliance, and food safety, promoting resident satisfaction, nutritional quality, and patient safety in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Current state Food Manager Certificate.
• Experience in quality food preparation in healthcare settings preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation procedures, and safe food handling.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or directs preparation of food items according to assigned menus and schedules.
• Ensures meals follow dietary, nutrition, and healthcare food service standards.
• Adheres to food production schedules and minimizes waste.
• Labels, dates, and stores food items and leftovers properly.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work areas.
