Job summary

Cantex seeks a Cook / Assistant Chef to ensure meal preparation, portioning, and serving meet approved menus in a timely manner within a long-term care setting. The role supports daily food production, dietary compliance, and overall patient safety in a healthcare environment.

The position emphasizes sanitary practices, adherence to local, state, and federal guidelines, and collaboration with Nutrition Services to promote resident satisfaction and high nutritional quality.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation procedures, portion control, and safe food handling.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or directs preparation of food items according to assigned and scheduled menus.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, utensils, work areas, preparation areas, and storage areas by cleaning after use.
• Supports therapeutic diet compliance and meal accuracy based on resident dietary needs.
• Identifies and corrects safety hazards in food service and kitchen areas.
