Job summary

Cantex Continuing Care Network is seeking an experienced Cook / Assistant Chef to prepare, cook, portion, and serve meals for residents in a long-term care setting. You will follow approved menus, ensure dietary and nutritional standards, and help maintain a sanitary kitchen in accordance with regulations.

Responsibilities include adhering to food safety guidelines, managing time to meet meal service timelines, and supporting inventory and training of staff when needed.

Qualifications

• Food safety and sanitation procedures knowledge.
• Ability to maintain portion control and safe handling practices.
• English language reading and writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or direct the preparation of meals according to menus and schedules.
• Maintain sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work areas.
• Label, date, and store food items and leftovers properly.
• Help ensure therapeutic diet compliance and meal accuracy for residents.
• Assist in inventory and notify supervisor of shortages or discrepancies.
• Adhere to policies and food service standards in daily operations.
