Job summary

Cantex Continuing Care Network is seeking a Cook/Assistant Chef to ensure patient meals are prepared and served in a timely, sanitary, and diet-compliant manner within a long-term care setting.

You will support daily food production, ensure nutritional quality, and follow safety guidelines. Strong sanitation knowledge and the ability to read and implement menus are required for this role.

Qualifications

• Current state Food Manager Certificate.
• Experience in quality food preparation in healthcare settings preferred.
• Knowledge of sanitation and portion control desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or direct preparation of meals according to menus and schedules.
• Maintain sanitation of equipment, areas and storage following standards.
• Label, date, and store food items and leftovers promptly.
• Support therapeutic diet compliance and meal accuracy for residents.
• Monitor food temperatures and assist in inventory management.
• Supervise staff when assigned as PIE and train new Nutrition Services staff.
