Job summary

Rogerson Communities in Boston, MA, is seeking a part-time Food Service role to support nutrition and meal preparation for residents. The position runs Sunday through Wednesday for 32 hours per week, with two shifts from 7 AM to 3 PM and two from 12 PM to 8 PM, at an hourly rate of $22–$24.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication, and 1–2 years cooking experience. You will assist the Food & Nutrition Director in maintaining therapeutic diets and safe food

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with residents and staff.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, ect.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
• 1-2 years of cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for and actively participate in food preparation for all meals and snacks for residents/participants providing quality and good presentation.
• Timely completion of production and service of foods.
• Understand and ensure specific therapeutic dietary needs of residents/participants.
• Work closely with Food Service Director to maintain therapeutic diets, ensure nutritional meals and follow health regulations.
• Maintain sanitary and safe operation of all food service equipment and report for shifts on time.
• Coordinate with Food Service Director and other managers for food service events with timeliness and quality.
• Coordinate meal service with other program directors to ensure timeliness of meal preparation and serving.
• Ensure organization and cleanliness of dietary storage areas in the main kitchen.
• Premeal meetings with dietary staff on ingredients and handling techniques.
• Monitor safe food handling techniques and complete temperature logs and daily reports.
• Ensure safe storage of leftovers after meals.
• Communicate dietary needs for functions and ensure timeliness and quality in the director’s absence.
