Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a cook to prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients in a warm, community-focused setting. You will contribute to meals that nourish both body and spirit, joining a kitchen that values belonging and compassionate care.

As part of a supportive team, you’ll follow menus, portion food accurately, and ensure meals meet taste, texture, temperature and presentation standards with attention to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must have a food handler’s permit if required by state/county.
• Training in therapeutic diet preparation is preferred.
• Recent institutional cooking experience is desirable.
• Familiarity with HACCP and food safety guidelines.
• Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, evenings or nights.

Responsibilities

• Apportion servings according to menu combinations or orders for patients.
• Follow menus, recipes, and oral instructions in the preparation of various foods.
• Serve appropriate portion sizes based on menu specifications.
• Plan timing of preparation of the food to ensure food satisfaction.
• Ensure satisfaction regarding taste, texture, temperature and appearance.
