Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) seeks a Therapeutic Assistant / Counselor Assistant to deliver diversionary activities and support for child and adolescent patients at the G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital in Columbia, SC.

Under supervision, you will help patients achieve recovery goals using interpersonal skills and group activities. You will collaborate with Nursing Services to maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and provide coverage as needed across

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; human services experience preferred.
• Currently pursuing an Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in human services or psychology may substitute for work experience.

Responsibilities

• Create, plan and conduct individual and group diversionary activities for children and adolescents.
• Observe, document attendance, participation, behavior and response; report changes to supervisors.
• Maintain safe, therapeutic environment and assist Nursing Services; provide unit coverage as needed.
• Complete inventory logs and supply check-out forms; report damages or needs.
