Job summary

Talentify in McHenry, IL, is seeking an Activity Coordinator to implement the daily activity calendar and support the Activity Director in delivering a high quality of life for residents.

You will lead a person-centered activity program, follow policies and regulations, and work with residents, families, and staff to provide engaging and meaningful activities while maintaining calendar schedules.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• At least 1 year experience in healthcare, volunteering or personal experience with the disabled population.
• Current knowledge of Federal and State activity regulations and/or ability to understand and interpret.
• Be able to read and write English.
• May prefer bi-lingual abilities based off of individual facilities.
• Must have a valid IL driver’s license.
• Must be punctual and time efficient, especially as it relates to following the activity calendar.
• Empathy, compassion, understanding, enthusiasm, personable, energetic, positive, and humorous interaction with residents, families, and staff.
• Must be able to relate and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
• Must communicate effectively with the community, other health professionals, outside organizations, and government agencies.
• Understand and manage emotional needs of yourself and the staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide feedback to Activity Director for monitoring achievement of facility and program goals through a team approach.
• Lead a therapeutic, person-centered activity program that enhances quality of life and aligns with the Activity Mission.
• Follow all Activity Policies, Procedures and Federal and State regulations.
• Develop knowledge of each resident’s background to create person-centered activity plans.
• Activities shall be daily and reflect residents’ schedules and rights.
• Conduct and complete assessments and document as required (social, medical, cognitive, etc.).
• Maintain records: Resident Daily Participation, Progress notes, Leisure Interest Survey, Planning sheets.
• Update activity boards with a monthly creative theme.
• Facilitate community involvement and invite participation in events.
• Assist in resident outings and coordinate with staff for safe transportation.
• Work as a team with staff and volunteers; maintain event schedules and avoid cancellations without approval.
