Job summary
Los Angeles City College is seeking a Performing Arts Technician to oversee the theater scene shop, carpentry, rigging, building, and load-in coordination. The role supports instruction in technical production for theater, TV, film, and related concerts, ensuring safe operation of stage equipment and timely preparation for performances.
The position requires knowledge of stagecraft, tools, and safety procedures, with experience in set design, lighting, and sound, and includes responsibilities
Qualifications
- An associate degree or equivalent in theater arts, cinema, music, or related field with 2 years of stagecraft or film/TV set experience.
- Or high school diploma with 4 years of paid stagecraft or film/TV set experience in two or more areas.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and performs technical work involving stage sets, lighting, sound cues, and related theater/TV/film productions.
- Instructs students in proper methods of lighting, rigging, set construction and painting of stage scenery.
- Maintains inventory records and generates orders for materials and equipment.
- Directs stage crews during rehearsals and performances.
