The City of Rancho Cucamonga’s Community Services Department is seeking part-time Theater Technicians. As a Theater Technician I, you may be responsible for various technical specialties that provide production support to events in the Theater. Under general supervision, the Theater Technician I may be responsible for performing a variety of construction, electrical, technical, and theatrical production duties in support of productions in the Lewis Family Playhouse and Victoria Gardens Cultural Center.
The Lewis Family Playhouse is an intimate, state-of-the‑art performing arts center with 560 seats owned and operated by the City of Rancho Cucamonga. As a major anchor to the Victoria Gardens Lifestyle Shopping Center, the Lewis Family Playhouse educates, entertains, and ignites the imagination through high‑quality theatrical experiences for children, families, and audiences of all ages throughout Southern California. In addition to the Lewis Family Playhouse, the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center includes a 60‑seat Black Box Theatre, large‑scale event spaces, and an outdoor courtyard stage.
Successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age with equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and have working knowledge of theatrical production systems, and their care, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Ability to work as a stagehand of rigging, electrics, light, audio, and sound systems is essential. Incumbent must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to meet deadlines and work a flexible schedule (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) and have a strong sense of responsibility and organizational skills.
Frequent standing and sitting. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds such as files, stacks of paper, sets, drops and other materials. Moving from place to place using stairs and ladders; some reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal occasionally; use of hand tools power tools and carrying and listing of construction materials and hardware weighing up to fifty (50) pounds regularly.
Generally clean work environment on stage with exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, odors and noise from production and set building and breakdown. May work outside during inclement weather
