Job description

The Licensing & Compliance Manager Position

SunStrong Management is searching for a Licensing and Compliance Manager to assist the Compliance and Licensing Team. This position supports the Compliance and Licensing Team to meet SunStrong’s business expansion and growth, contributing to the company’s evolution. The successful candidate will have precise attention to detail, a professional disposition and intrinsic motivation. They will be an energized team member who can work cross-functionally to define and execute on a vision for the business.

Licensing & Compliance Manager Responsibilities
  • Manages SunStrong’s Consumer Finance and Performance of Work license portfolio
  • Performs due diligence regarding state-level laws, regulatory requirements, and guidelines relevant to Consumer Finance and Performance of Work licenses.
  • Works directly with relevant state-specific authorities to maintain required state licenses.
  • Works closely with the business operations department to ensure field team is properly licensed including annual renewals and maintenance.
  • Implements process improvements to develop best practices for licensing portfolio management and compliance
  • Manages state level annual reports required to maintain active licenses.
  • Assists Director of Licensing in developing and maintaining Company’s exam management program.
  • Assists Director of Licensing in developing regular reports on license status, compliance metrics and potential risks to the executive team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the licensing function.
  • Performs any other necessary duties as assigned
  • May manage individual contributors as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree OR minimum of 4 years of Licensing experience (must have Consumer Finance or Electrical/Home Improvement Contractor licensing experience)
  • Experience using Salesforce, Adobe, Docusign
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in licensing, compliance and related functions within a large corporation or law firm
  • Experience using the Nationwide Multi-state licensing system (NMLS) required.
  • Familiarity with laws and rules governing state-level licenses, permits, and registrations
  • Notary public (must obtain if not held already)

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
  • Ability to work as a team member and interact with other departments
  • Technically proficient and comfortable learning new tools and systems to improve legal and compliance operations
