Job summary

Berkley Technology Underwriters is seeking a Sr. Technology Underwriter to manage and grow a Texas book of business and secure new technology middle market accounts.

You will analyze financial and claims histories, set pricing, and ensure profitability while maintaining client relationships with agents and brokers. The role requires 3–5 years of underwriting experience, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of commercial underwriting experience
• Knowledge of commercial lines underwriting standards, practices and rating/pricing methods
• Knowledge of interpreting coverage forms
• Experience in negotiation and client marketing of insurance products
• Strong customer service, communication, analytical and decision‑making skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
• Excellent PC skills and Windows proficiency
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance coverage

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a Texas book of business and acquire new technology middle market customers
• Analyze customers’ business information and claims history
• Monitor client activity to adjust policies as risks evolve
• Evaluate acceptability of risks, coverage terms and pricing
• Collaborate with agents/brokers to develop productive relationships
• Lead renewal initiatives, pricing, retention and coverage analysis
• Mentor underwriters and support staff
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulators
• Document underwriting files to support analysis and pricing
