Job summary

Berkley Technology Underwriters is seeking a Sr. Technology Underwriter to manage and grow the Texas book of business, and acquire new business focused on Technology Middle Market customers.

You will analyze client information and pricing, work with agents, and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines to meet profit objectives. Remote work arrangements may be considered for highly qualified candidates in the Texas Territory, with travel up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of commercial underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of commercial lines underwriting standards, practices and rating/pricing methods.
• Knowledge of interpreting coverage forms.
• Negotiation skills.
• Experience selling and/or marketing insurance products and services.
• Strong customer service, communication, analytical and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Excellent PC skills and working knowledge of Windows environment.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

• Achieve profitable results by maintaining high premium retention ratios.
• Manage accounts for assigned territory.
• Handle new and renewal submissions and endorsement requests from agents/producers.
• Document underwriting files to support analysis, coverage terms and pricing.
• Operate according to underwriting authority as delegated by manager.
• Lead renewal business initiatives for territory, including pricing, premium retention, coverage analysis, loss control needs and account stewardship.
• Provide clear instruction and guidance to underwriting support staff and operations staff.
• Develop sales and marketing skills and strategies to meet financial goals.
• Follow established pricing, underwriting and documentation protocol as set forth by underwriting management.
• Mentor and coach junior underwriters and underwriting support staff.
