The role partners with stakeholders, vendors, and care teams to ensure accurate validation of workflows and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in healthcare IT, Epic testing, and large-scale test leadership, with strong knowledge of test management, defect tracking, and integration

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare IT, Epic, quality assurance, testing, or application support experience.
  • Minimum 3 years coordinating large-scale testing efforts in an EHR environment.
  • Experience leading Epic implementation or optimization projects as testing lead.

Epic Testing Coordinator/Architect - Ambulatory Applications

Location: Remote, pacific hours
Duration: 6 months

Position Summary

The Epic Testing Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and governing application testing activities for Epic Ambulatory and related applications supporting community-based healthcare, behavioral health, public health, and social service programs. This role serves as the primary liaison between operational stakeholders, application analysts, project leadership, vendors, and end users to ensure Epic workflows are thoroughly validated prior to implementation and ongoing system enhancements.

The Testing Coordinator oversees test strategy development, test script creation, workflow validation, defect management, regression testing, integrated testing, PRCT and Day in the Life events, across multiple Epic applications and integrated systems. The role ensures that Epic solutions support clinical, financial, care management, community outreach, and county program administration workflows while meeting regulatory, compliance, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Testing Strategy & Planning
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive testing plans, schedules, and testing governance processes.
  • Coordinate testing activities across multiple implementation and optimization projects.
  • Establish testing entry and exit criteria for all testing phases.
  • Partner with application teams to identify testing scope, dependencies, assumptions, and risks.
  • Facilitate test readiness reviews and go/no-go recommendations.
Test Script Development
  • Lead creation and maintenance of workflow-based test scenarios and test scripts.
  • Ensure test scripts reflect real-world operational and community-based care workflows.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to validate expected system outcomes.
  • Maintain traceability between business requirements, workflow decisions, and test cases.
Integrated Testing
  • Coordinate end-to-end testing across Epic applications and integrated third-party systems.
  • Validate interfaces, referral workflows, documentation, scheduling, registration, billing, reporting, and care coordination processes.
  • Verify data flow between Epic and external systems supporting county and community programs.
  • Coordinate testing of mobile and field-based workflows utilized by outreach and community care teams.
Defect Management
  • Manage the defect lifecycle from identification through resolution and retesting.
  • Facilitate defect triage meetings.
  • Work closely with Epic analysts, technical teams, and vendors to prioritize issue resolution.
  • Track key testing metrics including defect trends, resolution rates, and testing progress.
County and Community Program Validation
  • Coordinate testing for workflows supporting:
    • Community-based organizations (CBOs)
    • Public health programs
    • Behavioral health services
    • Care management programs
    • Referral management
    • Outreach services
    • Population health initiatives
    • Eligibility and program administration activities
Reporting & Governance
  • Produce testing dashboards, status reports, risk logs, and executive summaries.
  • Present testing progress and readiness assessments to project leadership and governance committees.
  • Escalate testing risks, dependencies, and critical defects impacting implementation milestones.
Regulatory & Compliance Validation
  • Coordinate testing activities supporting:
    • HIPAA compliance
    • 42 CFR Part 2 requirements
    • Security and role-based access controls
    • Audit trail validation
    • Privacy and consent management workflows
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare IT, Epic, quality assurance, testing, or application support experience.
  • Minimum 3 years coordinating large-scale testing efforts in an Electronic Health Record (EHR) environment.
  • Experience participating in multiple Epic implementation or optimization projects, as the testing lead.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting county, public sector, behavioral health, community health, or social services organizations.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations and multidisciplinary care teams.

Familiarity with healthcare billing, referral management, care management, population health, and community outreach workflows.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with operational leaders, clinicians, analysts, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
Success Measures

The Epic Testing Coordinator will be measured on:

  • Test case execution percentages
  • Defect identification and resolution effectiveness
  • Successful completion of integrated testing milestonesReduction in post-go-live issues
  • Stakeholder satisfaction
  • Go-live readiness and testing quality outcomes
  • Compliance with testing governance and documentation standards

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $115,000 to $155,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
