Job summary

Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL, seeks a Testing Services proctor to assist students during exams, administer a variety of tests, and maintain accurate records. Under the supervision of the Director of Testing Services, you will handle clerical duties, communicate test results, and ensure testing integrity, while providing excellent customer service.

This full-time role requires an associate degree or equivalent and prior customer service experience, with a schedule that may include

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Two years customer service experience.
• Some knowledge of Microsoft Office software, i.e., Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Administer and proctor a variety of tests, including makeup tests, placement, proficiency, GED, CLEP tests, ESL tests, and certification tests.
• Assist and resolve testing problems for students.
• Monitor students' behavior during testing and ensure test integrity as outlined by testing instructions.
• Maintain testing documentation and materials, and complete data entry while keeping records confidential and testing materials secure.
• Explain test results to students and communicate next steps.
• Serve as proctor, as needed, in group testing situations and at assigned locations that may be off the main campus.
• Maintain a quiet and secure testing environment.
• Maintain and enforce policies and practices of Testing Center.
• Perform general clerical work for the department; (answer phones and student inquiries, file paperwork, etc.).
• Maintain department resources.
• Maintain the Testing Center for daily use.
• Complete duties while maintaining attention to detail.
• Effectively communicate with people in difficult situations and elevate the issue when appropriate.
