Job summary

Velo3D, Inc. in Fremont, CA is seeking a Test Technician to bring our metal additive production printers to life. Working from written procedures, you will perform three levels of test from subsystem bring-up to final qualification and sign-off.

You will follow safety rules, document measurements, and escalate issues with clear details. Training is provided; you don’t need prior procedure knowledge to start, and you’ll learn the VELO3D process and equipment on the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s in a technical field preferred.
• 1–3 years hands-on testing, installing or servicing complex equipment across industries.
• Experience working to formal, revision-controlled procedures.
• Comfortable with multimeters and basic test instruments; read wiring diagrams and work around high voltage.

Responsibilities

• Pre-power checks: verify wiring continuity, insulation, polarity, grounding; confirm correct configuration.
• Bring-up (Level 600): power up, verify subsystems, perform gas, vacuum and coolant leak checks.
• Calibration and software: calibrate sensors, load firmware/software, set printer configurations.
• Validation (Level 700): run full system test to meet acceptance criteria.
• Final qualification (Level 800): support final checks and hand off printer with open items documented.
• Troubleshooting: diagnose using diagrams; escalate beyond procedure with detailed symptoms and steps.
• Records: log measurements accurately; report defects and suggest corrections for unclear procedures.
• Safety: enforce lockout/tagout, laser safety, gas safety, and PPE standards; keep area audit-ready.
