Job summary

Mercury Systems is seeking a Senior Test Technician to perform environmental stress screening and testing to validate product performance per MIL-STD-810 and customer specs. You will operate environmental test equipment, document results, and support engineering teams in delivering reliable, high-quality products.

Responsibilities include setting up fixtures, running tests (thermal cycling, burn-in, vibration), analyzing data, and generating reports for design improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electronics, engineering technology, or a related field; relevant certifications may substitute for degree with equivalent experience.
• Typically 2–5 years in environmental or laboratory testing with demonstrated knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and experience with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation.
• Proficiency in operating environmental test systems (thermal chambers, shakers, etc.), understanding of basic electronics, and ability to read technical drawings/s schematics.
• Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with team-oriented approach and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities with problem-solving mindset and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

• Conduct environmental tests such as temperature cycling, thermal shock, burn-in, random/sine vibration (powered and unpowered), and constant acceleration according to MIL-STD-810 and customer specifications.
• Set up test fixtures and instrumentation per test procedures, monitor test progress, and intervene when anomalies are detected to ensure test integrity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or test setup issues, identifying and recommending equipment upgrades or replacements as needed.
• Record, analyze, and report test results with accuracy and completeness, maintaining detailed test logs and chain of custody documentation.
• Generate comprehensive test reports and present findings to engineering teams to support product validation and design improvements.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and service calls, documenting equipment maintenance history and calibration records.
• Work from schematics, work instructions, drawings, and operating procedures while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and compliance with relevant standards.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to refine test procedures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives for test processes.
• Cross-train and mentor new employees and junior technicians, while communicating goals and priorities with management to maintain project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

Pay Grade Range

Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position

• $44,000.00 - $88,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
• $49,300.00 - $98,600.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
• $51,900.00 - $103,800.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ
