ACE Partners is supporting one of our clients look for a hands-on Test & Instrumentation Technician to support the development, validation, and certification of advanced aerospace systems. You'll work alongside flight test, structural, mechanical, and design engineers to install instrumentation, build test setups, acquire high-quality data, and execute development and certification testing across a variety of mechanical and aircraft systems.
This role is a full-time direct role with our end client, and will operate fully onsite at their facility in Los Angeles, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure data acquisition (DAQ) systems to support engineering test programs.
- Instrument aircraft, prototypes, structural test articles, and laboratory test rigs with sensors and measurement equipment.
- Build, modify, and assemble test fixtures, harnesses, and supporting hardware for development testing.
- Operate structural, mechanical, and systems test equipment during development, qualification, and certification activities.
- Collect, validate, and manage test data while supporting post-processing and analysis.
- Configure and maintain DAQ hardware, control systems, and associated software.
- Diagnose instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical issues during testing to minimize downtime and keep programs on schedule.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to improve test methods, equipment, and processes.
- Maintain test equipment and ensure all instrumentation is calibrated and functioning correctly.
Required Experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting engineering test or validation activities.
- Experience installing and operating data acquisition systems in laboratory, prototype, or flight test environments.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to build, repair, and troubleshoot test equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, CAD models, technical manuals, and assembly documentation.
- Experience working with instrumentation including sensors, strain gauges, thermocouples, pressure transducers, accelerometers, or similar measurement devices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and take ownership of testing activities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace, aviation, automotive motorsport, defense, or other highly regulated product development environments.
- Experience with National Instruments (NI) CompactDAQ, CompactRIO, DATAQ, or similar DAQ platforms.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, soldering, wiring, harness fabrication, or mechanical assembly.
- Experience supporting flight test programs or structural testing would be advantageous.
