This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids and necessitates a presence in the office for 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.
Job Description

The Avionics Test Systems Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automatic test equipment and test programs for design verification and production testing of electronic assemblies.

This role encompasses managing requirements, designing electronic circuits, and developing test software to achieve full test automation. It also includes integrating and verifying test hardware and software with avionics product hardware and software. Additionally, the Avionics Test Systems Design Engineer will maintain, support, and develop all production test procedures and equipment both on-site and at other locations abroad.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design and specify new production test equipment for complex electronic aerospace products

  • Create test design documentation including test specifications, drawings, procedures, software, verification procedures and reports.

  • Develop test hardware designs (signal conditioning, signal conversion, stimulus synthesis, filtering cable harness design, etc.).

  • Generate test software in National Instruments TestStand, C in LabWindows CVI and C/C++/C# in Microsoft Visual Studio.

  • Work closely with the R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Engineering teams.

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, including hands-on debug of test systems.

  • Contribute to the company’s production engineering objectives regarding new product introduction, process improvement and lean manufacturing.

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

  • Manage own time and assigned resources to meet schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

  • 0-3 years of experience in engineering dealing with electronics, preferably product/equipment design.

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in electrical design for electrical/electronics equipment.

  • Knowledge and experience in software development using C, C++, C#; system-level development.

  • Understanding and ability of circuits troubleshooting, familiarity with typical lab Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Application of problem solving and root cause corrective action tools and Experience in the Aerospace/Avionics industry.

The base pay range for this position is$79,800.00 - $90,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors,including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.This position is also eligiblefor an annual discretionary bonus based on apercentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.This posting isexpected to close on8/1/25.
