Job description

Primary Heat Transport System Design Engineer

Protingent Staffing has an exciting *REMOTE* or On-Site contract opportunity for a Primary Heat Transport System Design Engineer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design nuclear and industrial process systems and sub-systems from requirements through final design.
  • Perform analyses supporting design (thermal-hydraulic, structural, etc.) using hand calculations and software.
  • Ensure application of correct design codes (ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA, etc.) in plant systems design.
  • Provide technical guidance on nuclear and non-nuclear design standards.
  • Analyze and allocate regulatory criteria to mechanical and process system designs.
  • Support planning and schedule adherence for design activities and integration with plant delivery schedules.
  • Manage drawing packages including P&ID, 3D models, and interface drawings.
  • Coordinate with design disciplines to develop plant design information and performance criteria.
  • Oversee supplier projects, ensuring timely delivery and conducting technical reviews.
  • Maintain system requirements and specifications, including engineering design specifications for major equipment.
  • Propose and support testing programs for plant system qualification.
  • Generate and review design documents, reports, calculations, and drawings.
  • Support licensing activities related to Safety Analysis Reports.
  • Participate in design reviews to refine plant system designs.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 10+ years experience in mechanical systems.
  • Experience in complex fluid system design and fluid simulation software.
  • Experience with light water reactor nuclear steam systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with centrifugal pump and heat exchanger design is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and resolve conflicts effectively.

  • Pay Range: $70-100/h DOE
