Job summary

GeekPlus in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Test & Quality Engineer to verify robots on the local production line and drive quality improvements across the product lifecycle.

You will implement test plans, perform comprehensive tests, and coordinate with engineering and China-based teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence. The role requires hands-on testing, strong documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• BS in EE/Mech/Mechatronics/Robotics or related field.
• 3+ years in product testing, quality engineering, or related roles.
• Experience with electromechanical equipment, robotics, automation systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with quality tools like 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, CAPA.
• Hands-on testing on the production floor.

Responsibilities

• Implement and execute robot production test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Perform functional, performance, safety, and final acceptance testing of assembled robots.
• Develop and maintain local test procedures, checklists, test records, and quality documentation.
• Set up and maintain test equipment, tools, software, and test environments.
• Identify, document, and analyze failures and quality issues discovered during assembly and testing.
• Perform initial troubleshooting and root cause analysis for hardware, electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues.
• Escalate product quality issues to Engineering and Quality teams in China with clear failure descriptions, test data, logs, photos, and other supporting information.
• Work with the R&D team to identify root causes and implement containment, corrective actions, and permanent resolutions.
• Verify repaired or reworked robots and confirm closure of quality issues.
• Track recurring defects and provide feedback to manufacturing and engineering teams for continuous product and process improvement.
• Support incoming quality inspection requirements when needed, particularly for critical components.
• Maintain production quality records, defect data, test results, and traceability documentation.
• Support new product introduction and validation of new or updated robot models.

The Job

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the Test & Quality Engineer is responsible for testing and quality verification of robots assembled at the local factory. This role will implement product test plans, execute and improve testing procedures, identify and analyze product quality issues, and coordinate with Engineering and Quality teams in China to determine root causes and implement resolutions.

The position serves as the primary local technical owner for ensuring that finished robots meet defined functional, performance, and quality requirements before release.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in product testing, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or technical support.
• Experience with electromechanical equipment, robotics, automation systems, or similar industrial products preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to understand electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, test procedures, and technical specifications.
• Experience with quality tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, 8D, CAPA, or similar methodologies.
• Comfortable performing hands-on testing and troubleshooting on the production floor.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience working with overseas engineering teams is preferred.
• Experience in the autonomous mobile robot (AMR) industry is a plus.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
