Job summary

Auburn University’s History Department seeks a TES Administrative Support Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support within the History Department. The position, via Temporary Employment Services, supports office tasks, project work, and general duties across the department.

The role includes data management, scheduling, payroll processing, policy guidance to faculty and students, and coordination of reports or events as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative and clerical duties such as data gathering, data management, correspondence, filing, event scheduling, registration, and answering the phone.
  • Provides payroll processing, travel/expense voucher processing, and other expenditure processing.
  • Advises faculty, staff, and students on standard policies or procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison to other departments and students on behalf of the manager, director, or department head.
  • Coordinates recruitment, prepares reports/documents/presentations, or coordinates complex projects/events.
  • Maintains grades/registration and handles administrative issues related to student academic or financial status.

Overview

The College of Liberal Arts’ History Department is looking for a TES Administrative Support Assistant. This position provides administrative support and general clerical support within the History Department in the College of Liberal Arts with responsibility for a broad variety of office and project support duties and tasks.

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in‑house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university.TESprovides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work
  • Emergencies

  • Performs multiple duties which are a mix of administrative and clerical in nature, which may include, but are not limited to data gathering, data management, correspondence, filing, event scheduling, registration, and answering the phone
  • Provides payroll processing, travel/expense voucher processing, as well as other expenditure processing.
  • Advises faculty, staff, and students of standard policies or procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison to other departments, and students on behalf of manager, director, or department head.
  • May perform some administrative duties which may include, but are not limited to recruitment coordination, preparation of reports/documents/presentations, or coordination of complex projects or events.
  • As an academic position, duties may also include but are not limited to maintaining grades/registration and administrative issues related to student academic or financial status.
