Job summary

CareerPaths NW is seeking a driven Territory Sales Manager to cover the Portland metro area for an established industrial distributor. The role balances account management with proactive new business development, targeting sustainable growth and long-term customer relationships.

You will learn customers' processes, translate their needs into practical industrial solutions, and work toward annual territory growth while participating in structured training to expand product knowledge across fluid

Qualifications

  • Previous B2B or industrial sales experience required.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and apply technical product knowledge.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a natural drive toward sales performance.
  • Comfortable with prospecting and new business development.
  • Ability to understand customer processes and operations, rather than simply memorizing product lines.
  • Demonstrated employment longevity is highly valued.
  • Willingness to learn a specialized product line through structured training.
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Familiarity with or openness to the Sandler sales methodology.

Territory Sales Manager – Portland Metro Area

Our client is a well-established industrial distribution company specializing in fluid power, motion control, and flow control products. They serve a broad range of industrial customers across the Portland metro area, providing solutions that integrate directly into their customers' operations and processes. Known for their commitment to building long-term customer relationships and offering a consultative sales approach, our client offers a competitive compensation package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, PTO, and a 401(k) plan.

They are seeking a driven and personable Territory Sales Manager to manage and grow an established Portland-area territory. This is a critical role that balances account management with new business development—approximately 50/50—making it an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on both nurturing relationships and hunting for new business.

Key Responsibilities

Preferred industry backgrounds include: fluid power, hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, bearings, fasteners, industrial distribution, MRO products, industrial components, and industrial supply. Candidates with experience at companies such as Motion Industries, Applied Industrial Technologies, Fastenal, Grainger, or MSC Industrial Supply are encouraged to apply.

Please note: Fluid power experience is highly desirable but not required. Our client places significant value on attitude and aptitude—the right candidate will receive approximately 1–2 months of structured training and will be introduced to existing accounts before expanding into new business development.
