Job summary

Rust Automation & Controls is seeking an Outside Sales Engineer to support and grow the Sacramento territory. You will promote products and solutions to end users, collaborate with the Inside Sales Engineering team, and build strong customer relationships.

The role emphasizes achieving sales goals, expanding gross margin, and reporting on sales activities while maintaining a proactive, customer-first approach.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or 2–3 years of industrial sales experience.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned territory, including overnight travel.
• Self-motivated with the ability to set aggressive goals and exceed them.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce).

Responsibilities

• Grow territory sales and gross margin through in-person visits and proactive outreach.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Collaborate with Inside Sales Engineering and end users to meet customer needs.
• Maintain a robust CRM database with accounts, contacts, opportunities, and projects.
• Articulate customer solutions and coordinate with internal teams for execution.
• Prospect and promote products within assigned accounts and industry sectors.
• Travel within Sacramento/Folsom/Chico region to support customers.
