Purpose

The Territory Manager (TM) is responsible for growing their defined geographical territory by measuring, planning, and enhancing the distribution of the full range of STIHL products through existing and new dealers. This is achieved by meeting assigned goals and initiatives, ensuring dealer compliance with STIHL policies, and acting as the liaison between dealers, the branch, and corporate. This is an outside sales position; the essential functions will be performed remotely.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maximize STIHL sales by assessing market conditions, the competitive landscape, and existing dealers, and identifying strategies and promotions to increase distribution and profit, including booking and sales to dealers.
  • Call on and visit dealers regularly to execute national and regional promotions, Point of Purchase, merchandising, and branch programs, working collaboratively with marketing, customer service, finance, and tech departments.
  • Train new and existing dealers on key STIHL programs and facilitate training sessions with the territory support team, including coordination of STIHL University for large groups.
  • Initiate new dealer development and ensure successful store setup and initial training.
  • Attend and support STIHL at regional trade shows and dealer events to promote our products and services.
  • Support initiatives such as BER, EDGE, and New Dealer programs.
  • Develop business/action plans with dealers to analyze performance and set future growth goals.
  • Maintain reporting through CRM, monthly field reports, and other territory intelligence reports.
  • Handle dealer administration tasks, including email responses, follow-ups, scheduling, Outlook calendar management, and website setup and maintenance (SSO, Rewards, iCademy, eBiz, etc.).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Specifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and web-based programs.
  • Effective time management, willingness for overnight travel, and strong presentation skills.
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education and training; self-starter with minimal supervision.
  • Outdoor power equipment experience is preferred.
